| Other functions of the Department for achieving the sustainable development include |

Initiating various studies for the environmental management and sustainable development in the State of Gujarat. |

Identification of the critical areas need special attention and taking action for its better management. |
| 3. |
Initiating suitable measures for setting up of the Common Effluent Treatment Plants, Technically Safe Disposal Facilities for solid and hazardous waste and such other schemes by the Industrial Associations in various industrial estates. |

Responding to the references on the matters pertaining to environment sent from other State Government Departments/ Agencies. |

Advising various Government Departments / Agencies and private entrepreneurs on environment related matters. |

Preparing the guidelines and issuing the notifications and orders on various aspects of environment for achieving the goals. |

The Department has taken up the World Bank aided Environmental Management Capacity Building - Technical Assistance Project.
